NEWS:

The OKC Zoo announced our 14-year-old male tiger, Kami (the daddy to our cubs and part of the ambassador program), was ready to retire and enjoy his remaining years resting at another aza (association of zoos and acquariums) accredited zoo. While here at JK's Zoo Tales we will miss Kami; the team is excited, just as the staff at the OKC Zoo is, to announce the new arrival of Badar: a 4-year-old male Sumatran tiger. JK's Zoo Tales is eager to write about him, along with his new families, expanded adventure together. Badar will be one of the OKC Zoos Ambassadors for his species.

If you are wondering what the Ambassadors program is? The Ambassador program is about an animal who is an individual of a species - often a tame or habituated animal that lives permanently at a rehabilitation center or zoo - that is used to educate the public about the species. Ambassador animals, animals that are trained to: interact with the public to support education and conservation goals, such as increasing visitors' learning, excitement, and personal connections to the animals. These animals are a delight to see and encounter there day to day activities and to build an awarness of what is around you.

Come and see the new changes on the horizon at your local zoo.

SOME MORE EXCITING NEWS:

Bringing in Badar allowed the tiger cubs the opportunity for a larger encloser; this is exciting for the cubs, they get to start playing and exploring new surroundings. So our Laz and Mar (Bob and Luna with Momma Lola) will enjoy climbing, not just on momma but even more grounds and rocks. At JK'S Zoo Tales we will keep you posted of their new journey and look forward to sharing with you, soon to be released, book of Laz and Mar Zoo Encounters series.
